GREAT QUOTE AND IN A BLOG FORMAT IT WORKS WELL AS A 'STAND ALONE' ATOP AN ENTRY. BUT I THINK THE REST OF THE PIECE REALLY NEEDS TO BE 'THROUGH-WRITTEN' IN JOURNALISTIC STYLE.

THE FOLLOWING NEEDS TO BE CRAFTED INTO A PARAGRAPH. FIRST QUESTION: WHAT EXACTLY IS 'HARLEM,' GEOGRAPHICALLY AND DEMOGRAPHICALLY.

THIS IS REALLY THE KEY OR 'NUT' GRAPH, BECAUSE IT'S ABOUT CONNECTION BETWEEN FOOD AVAILABILITY AND HEALTH CONSEQUENCES. Health problems related to obesity are a major cause of deaths in Harlem.

OK, NEED TO TRIM THIS. THE READER CAN REALISTICALLY HANDLE SO MANY STATS BEFORE STAT OVERLOAD SETS IN. YOUR JOB IS TO FIND THE TWO OR THREE STATS THAT BEST MAKE YOUR CASE, AND GET THEM IN THE RIGHT SPOT IN YOUR STORY (PREFERABLY HIGH UP). BASICALLY, THESE TWO GRAPHS OF STATS NEED TO BE ONE SHORT GRAPH. Obesity can cause diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, caner, and heart disease. For people living in poor neighborhoods, their chances of becoming obese and possibly dying is much greater. About 31% of adults in East Harlem and 27% of in Central Harlem are obese compared to the citywide obesity rate with is 22% and Upper East side which is only 9%. 13% of Adults in East Harlem have diabetes, 12% in Central Harlem, compared to only 9% citywide and 3% on the Upper East Side.

OK, GOOD TOPIC SENTENCE FOR NEXT GRAPH: In Harlem as well as East Harlem, the lack of healthy food choices and grocery stores in comparison fast food and bodega’s only worsens this problem. BUT OBVIOUSLY WE NEED THE REST OF THE STORY HERE.

THIS IS A GREAT OUTLINE FOR A PIECE, BUT NOT A PIECE YET. THE ISSUE IS SUBSTANTIVE, THE QUOTE IS EXCELLENT AND THE VISUALS SOLID, THOUGH THE LAST TWO ARE KIND OF HARD TO READ AT A GLANCE. BUT IT'S HARD FOR ME TO GRADE, SINCE THE STORY ISN'T WRITTEN OUT.

GRADE: B- (UNLESS YOU'VE PREPARED A SECOND DRAFT; I COULDN'T FIND IT TODAY)
